Healthy Club

We’ve joined the Irish Life GAA Healthy Club campaign… the aim is that Tubbercurry Gaa will become a hub for health in the community. Our first initiative – Ireland Lights Step Challenge has received a great response… in total our club members have walked more than 10,000km’s, the equivalent of Tubbercurry to New York and back! Lena McGuiness has led the way walking a remarkable 569km since the campaign kicked off… the top ten “steppers” to date are 1. Lena McGuiness, 2. Pat Gilmartin, 3. Donnacha Brouder, 4. Aidan “Bob” Brennan 5. Mickey “Mac” McDonagh, 6. Louise Brett, 7. Caroline McCarrick, 8. Fiona Henry, 9. Darren Henry, 10. Francis “Grobbelaar” Mannion. If you are interested in getting involved please contact our Healthy Club Officer Pat Lucey on 0878182232 for further details.

50/50

Well done to senior player and all round stylish footballer Fergal McDonagh who was the winner of our recent 50/50 draw on Feb 14th. This weekly draw is a very important revenue stream for our club, thanks to all who support. Tickets can be purchased at www.lottoraiser.ie/tubbercurrygaa/ or in store at Surlis’s Supervalu, McSorleys Centra, Foleys or Mickey Macs.

Sports Capital Funding

The club are delighted to announce that we have received a sports capital grant of €62,447 as part of the recent government Sports Capital and Equipment Programme (SCEP). Special thanks to all local representatives who have helped us on this journey. The funds will be put to great use over the coming months as the club continue to develop facilities and make Kilcoyne Park a place that the entire community of Tubbercurry can use with pride. Phase 1 of this development work, a new all-weather sand-based pitch is nearing completion. Phase 2 will commence shortly, this phase includes the erection of state-of-the-art match quality floodlights, followed by fencing, ball stops and goals. Once completed the new facility at Kilcoyne Park will be one of the top sporting venues in Connacht. Keep an eye our social media channels to follow progress over the next few weeks and months.

Teams are Back Training

Our Club teams have returned to the training field in recent weeks. Watch out for our under 13/15 teams who have recently completed their winter S&C program… we have already had to order bigger jerseys for these lads… their coaching team have referred to them as “animals in the gym”.

The senior team are back in action under the management of Knockmore man John Brogan. John is being supported by a backroom team that includes Francis Mannion, Pat Gilmartin, Ray Kilcoyne and Dermot Walsh.

Coaching Conference

Many of our club coaches attended last weekend’s 2022 GAA Games Development Coaching Conference in the NUI Galway Airdome at Bekan. The conference was opened by proud Tubbercurry man and President of the Connacht Council John Murphy.
